Sunny Afternoon the Musical – New Cast Announcement

The Multi-Olivier Award-winning musical centred on of one England’s most famous rock bands of the sixties. The Kinks. Sunny Afternoon is a biographical show based on the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to fame of his band. A new cast has been announced for this show starting with the company from 5th October 2015.

Danny Horn will play ‘Ray Davies’, Oliver Hoare as ‘Dave Davies’, Tom Whitelock as ‘Pete Qualife’ and Damien Walsh as ‘Mick Avory’. The production opened at the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre on 28 October 2014. It was the best performing show at this year’s Olivier Awards, winning: Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (John Dagleish), Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (George Maguire) and Outstanding Achievement in Music for Ray Davies the original lead singer of The Kinks.

Sunny Afternoon features music and lyrics by Ray Davies, and some of their most well-known songs, including ‘You really got me’, ‘Waterloo Sunset’ and ‘Lola’. It is set to the backdrop of the swinging sixties in London, showing the highs and lows of being one of the most famous bands in the word, and being an integral part of the British Invasion of the United States music scene.
