Motown the musical is showing at The Shaftesbury Theatre, located on Shaftsbury Avenue in London’s West End, close to Tottenham Court Road tube station. Built in 1911 this 1400 seat venue is the last theatre of another five, that was built on Shaftsbury Avenue. The first show at the Shaftsbury Theatre opening on December 26th 1911 was The Three Musketeers. The Theatre continues to have massive success with large scale musicals. It’s large size makes it perfect for these large scale musicals, recent successes include Fame, Hairspray and Derren Brown Svengali. In 2006 the theatre had a major refurbishment, having the carpet replaced, new seats being installed and the front of house areas were decorated. Motown the musical has been showing here since February 2016.
