The Bodyguard the musical at The Dominion Theatre in London’s West End, and dinner at Grace in Piccadilly Circus: Our Review | Tuesday 26 July 2016

The Bodyguard the musical has returned London’s West End after touring around the UK. As part of the Customer Services Team here at Celebrate in London I was lucky enough to be invited to go and see The Bodyguard which is a Musical that I constantly find myself being asked about on the phone with customers so naturally I was both excited and curious to see what all the hype was about.

I am happy to say that The Bodyguard fully lived up to my high expectations with every cast member putting on a first class performance and every audience member being fixated with every scene.

The music itself is pure gold and the 16 songs used in the musical are all classics. I was lucky enough to see the show with Beverley Knight playing Rachel and she manages to make every song her own, rather than the musical feeling like a Whitney Houston tribute. Beverley Knight is absolutely first class throughout the show with a powerful voice and immense stage presence that totally dominates everything around her. Two stand out songs for me are Queen of the Night and One Moment in Time which are both incredibly bought to life on the stage.

The Bodyguard the musical tells the classic story of former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is asked for his services in protecting Rachel and her family. Frank reluctantly agrees to take on the job and instantly gets into an argument with Sy who wants Rachel to be as visible as possible during the run up to the Oscars. Rachel sides with Sy and insists on doing a special gig despite Frank’s advice. Somehow, Frank has to find a way to get Rachel to understand the seriousness of the situation and ensure that she, along with her family, is still around to collect her award.

Here at Celebrate in London our aim is to provide London's Best Theatre and Dinner Gift Packages. We believe one of the fundamental ingredients for providing the best theatre and gift packages is actually experiencing the shows and restaurants first hand. Why? Well, that is easy. It gives us the best knowledge of London's musicals, plays and theatres, so that we can genuinely help when we are organising your perfect night out in London. It allows us to give you our honest opinion, a first-hand overview of the show, the best seating options (where is best), and finally, the ideal local bar for a night cap to round off your perfect night out in London's West End.

Top Tip for Seating

Stalls. Why? I was sitting in row J of the Stalls in seat number 13, these seats were both close to the stage and also very central. I feel that there is no better place to immerse yourself in the brilliant voice of Beverley Knight.

Top Tip for The Perfect Night Cap

Covent Gardens is just a short walk down the road from the Dominion theatre. The atmosphere in Covent Gardens is great especially in summer with an excellent range of pubs and bars there is no where better to end a wonderful evening after seeing The Bodyguard the musical.

Dinner for Two | Grace English Restaurant | Piccadilly Circus

All of our theatre gift packages include a two-course meal for two. It sets the whole evening up perfectly. This was my first time going to Grace and it simply oozes with class. Grace is a great place to start your night out in the West End, with a bar before you enter the restaurant and very tasty food.

Top Tip for Starter

Caesar salad with char-grilled chicken

Top Tip for Main

Steak frites with garlic & herb butter

10 out of 10 from me.
